The Smithsonian Institution

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s biggest museum complex and research groups consisting of a National Zoo, 9 Research Centers and 19 Museums and galleries. It is found at 10th St. and Constitution Ave, NW in Washington DC. No tickets are required to enter the Smithsonian and it is open daily except on December 25 until 7:30 pm for some holidays.

One of the most visited museums in the Smithsonian Institution complex is the National Museum of Natural History or the NMNH. It is devoted to encouraging interest, discovery and knowledge about the natural world through its matchless research, collected works, expositions, and education outreach programs. It was opened in 1910 and was among the first Smithsonian building built entirely to accommodate the national collected works and research facilities. Because of its research, collected works, learning and exhibition programs, the National Museum of Natural History functions as one of the world’s great depository of scientific and national legacy as well as a cause of enormous pride for all Americans.

This market is one of the most diverse markets in the US. The market hosts over 100 exhibitors from different continents. The flea market features arts, crafts, antiques and collectibles from different parts of the world. You can also get vintage clothes in this market since clothing, jewellery can be found in the stands. This market definitely has something for everyone. It is a great place to spend your weekends.

This is one of the best attraction sites in Washington DC, it is located in Virginia along the Potomac river, it is a 500 acre estate of George Washington and his family. The estate also includes a massionette that is beautifully furnished with great antique objects.

While there you can visit the George Washington tomb where George Washington was buried together with his wife and other family members close to the tomb is a burial ground where slaves who used to work in the estate were buried. You can also take a tour on the buildings located in the estate which include the smoke house, the kitchen, the slave quarters and the stable. a state of the art museum is located within the area that has six galleries and exhibitions that are shown in the estate for the first time.

This is one marvelous area located in Washington DC. It is a traffic circle park located in northwest Washington DC. The beautiful park that is located within the circle is maintained by the national park services. The park within the circle is a ground for those interested in playing chess. There are long benches along the park that were installed in1964 so one can have a seat at them as he looks at the activities going on around him. Some of the greatest research institutions are located in this area and they include the Brooking institute, the Eurasian centre, the Peterson institute and the Carnegie foundation for international peace.
